This document is meant for the participants of Selection rounds for "Expedition-Trophy 2008".

Main participants of a Selection round:

• "Merchants" — Veterans of "Expedition-Trophy 2005/2006";
  
• "applicants";
  
• Organizers, the press, instructors, guests.
  

The applicants' main aim is to reveal their best qualities and abilities and to convince the Merchant that he or she will be most valuable as a member of the Merchant's team in "Expedition-Trophy 2008".

The Merchants' goal is to form a team for participation in "Expedition-Trophy 2008" from the applicants (it is allowed to take six applicants, one of them may become a coordinator).

The competitive program of the Selection round consists of 13-15 tasks. The duration of the competitive program is 7 hours. The order of tasks fulfillment is free. The composition of a team fulfilling each task is free. The amount and order of tasks is not restricted.

The medics are in the Organizers' headquarters camp. Any applicant can contact the Organizers via any instructor supervising the tasks. An instructor supervises every task and makes sure that it is accomplished right and safe.

The number of persons necessary to fulfill a task is strictly determined. The participants cannot commence with a task not having gathered enough team members. Each participant prepared to take up the task receives a band from an instructor. As soon as a participant gets the band, it is considered the he has started with the task. A participant can return the band to the instructor in the following cases:

• refusal to fulfill a task (such participants get a red mark on their ID card, which means that the task has been failed);
  
• successful fulfillment of a task by ALL the team members gathered at a stage (such participants get a green mark on their ID card);
  

The applicants are to wear an ID card with their names and marks made at the end of each task until the end of the event.

You will find the map of the territory with the location of all the tasks at the Information desk in the Organizers' headquarters camp. The tasks can also be found by the cards with task numbers, attached to trees.

The way the applicants pass the stages is estimated not only by the Merchants, but also by instructors assigned to each task, by the Organizers, representatives of Mass Media and by other accredited people. In case additional voting is necessary to define the three winning teams, the people mentioned above have voting authority and can vote for any team.

Team Forming

As soon as the competitive part of the Selection round is over, the applicants submit their ID cards to the Merchant whose team they would like to join. The Merchants should define the membership of their teams and present it to the Organizers until the time announced. We remind that each team should contain at least one woman and not more than one Veteran of the previous Races.

If more than three teams have been formed, an additional voting is held and the accredited persons define the three teams — winners of the Selection round — that will enter the list of "Expedition-Trophy 2008" participants.
