On the 26th of February 2008 at 11:00 a press conference, dedicated to the international Race "Expedition-Trophy 2008" and its movement through Ekaterinburg, will be given at the ITAR-TASS press-center.

From the 23rd of February up to the 8th of March the largest off-road event in the world — "Expedition-Trophy 2008" — crosses the territory of Russia. The main prize to participants is 10 kg of pure gold.

The route of "Expedition-Trophy 2008", which is 17 000 kms long, will go through 8 regions of the country — the Kola peninsula, North and Central Russia, Povolzhje, Ural, Siberia, Zabaikalje and the Far East. There is a plan of the longest passage on the Baikal ice — about 250 kms. The route excludes Moscow and Saint Petersburg.

Alexander Kravtsov, the President of the "Ruyan" group of companies and the Chief Organizer of "Expedition-Trophy": "Expedition is a story of possibilities, waiting for us at every turn of the road. The value of Expedition is in its total authenticity: adventure and encounters with other true people.".

In each region the participants discover unique points of historical, natural and cultural heritage. Within the Race route the Organizers will leave pearls in the cities of Ural and Siberia. The coordinates of their location will be reported to those people or organizations, who will do something truly meaningful for the development of their cities.

Vasil Gazizulin, the coordinator of "Expedition-Trophy 2005-2008": "This year we decided to shift priorities a little — the amount of sportive off-road sectors will be reduced. Thus the "Expedition-Trophy 2008" accent will shift from a sports competition to a meaningful trial of national character".

"Expedition-Trophy 2008" Race will become the last Eurasian Stage of "Expedition Around the World" and will finish in Vladivostok on the 8th of March. "Expedition-Trophy 2008" attracted more than 30 teams and crews from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Kazakhstan. The winners of the previous "Expedition-Trophy 2008", "Mult and Ko" team from Ekaterinburg, take part in it as well.
