On May, 19th the first Selection round for "Expedition-Trophy 2008" will take place on one of the islands in the Ivankovskoye Lake (130 km from Moscow, Tver Region) The further Selection rounds will be organized in all large regions of Russia (Ural, Siberia, the South) and some counties of Eastern Europe during the period of Summer-Autumn 2007. The final Selection round will take place in Moscow in October. Each of the rounds will determine three teams that will participate in "Expedition-Trophy 2008" without paying entrance fees.

A Selection round for "Expedition-Trophy 2008" is a one-day competition with up to 60 applicants. The competitive program includes 12-15 stages different in technique and difficulty. All of them are aimed at testing participants' physical form, ability to work in a team and solve tasks quickly and correctly.

The main goal of the Selection rounds is to enable the Race 2005/2006 Veterans to gather a team from the applicants allowed to participate. Each team consists of 6 people with at least one woman and not more than one Veteran. In case the Selection rounds are passed successfully the team gains the right to participate in "Expedition-Trophy 2008" without paying any entrance fee.

The teams are formed after competitive program is over. After a short discussion of the results, the participants give their personal cards to the Veteran whose team they would like to join. From these the Veteran chooses those who will make up his team. In case more than three teams are formed, additional voting of the Organizers defines the winners.

The winning teams participate in "Expedition-Trophy 2008" without paying the entrance fee.
